Jersey Sports Tour – Day 2

March 12, 2015

Hockey was the focus on the second day of the Jersey tour. Both the boys and girls performed superbly in the unfamiliar indoor format. The girls played in the morning. They won all six of their matches to be named Jersey champions for the first ever time. We scored 16 goals and only conceded 1. Victory was only confirmed after a close win against the hosts St Michael’s.  All the girls should be extremely proud of their efforts. Molly was in brilliant form up front and Lucy solid in defence but it was certainly a team effort that ensured the historic win.

The boys looked on course to make it a double after a fine group stage where they played fine passing hockey and at times scored freely. Nick was in great form and well supported by James and Ralph. Alex was the surprise package up front scoring some good goals. After a comfortable quarter final we came up again against St Michael’s. It was a great game of hockey that we unfortunately lost 2-1. We did secure 3rd place as some consolation.  However they should be very proud of their efforts considering their lack of experience indoors.

On the other side of the island, those not in the hockey put their bowling skills to the test.  Oscar produced the best score but the expert proved to be Mr Clark.  A great day of sport for Ballard.jersey2015
