October 23, 2015

IMG_1118

Having woken to another blue azure sky and breakfast eaten we set off into theIMG_1121 very heart of the renaissance capital of the world.  Our first major stop was the Galleria Dell Accademia.    Only a short queue and almost immediately we found Michelangelo’s David.  This massive statue held everyone’s attention.

Then to the Mercato San Lorenzo food market. It had everything from fresh flowers to fish, meat to bread and an alternative decorated David.   We moved onto the Duomo once more for sketching.  Although sunny, the wind had a bite so we retired to the IMG_1125hotel for sketching in the shelter on the girls veranda continuing sketches from the photos they collected in the day.

Off to Venice tomorrow!
