Musical Interlude #4

Oakhaven Hospice – Light up a Life

Ballard took part again this year in the annual ‘Light up a Life’ services held on the first Tuesday in December at St Thomas Church in Lymington. There are two services one in the afternoon and the other in the evening. Both are very special services of dedication and thanksgiving as we remember loved ones and absent friends. (attrib.). We had over 25 pupils and alumni take part in these services.

Ballard School’s Christmas Carol Service

Our Christmas Carol Service took place on Friday 11th December in the stunning Christchurch Priory. We have held our Carol Service there since Edinburgh House days and this year, like last year, we began at 5pm. This year we had students from Years 1-11 present and the school filled the twelfth century building.

Practising for the Carol Service later on today

Our introit selection composed of our Handbell group, Saxophone Quartet and Organ. Our Upper Voices Chamber Choir began our service with Deo Gracias (A Ceremony of Carols) and ensembles performed throughout the service confidently and clearly. Pre-Prep sang Little Donkey – following on from their Nativity performed this week.

Year 6-8 processed with gifts for Barnardo’s during one of our five congregational carols – a reminder of the Operation Christmas Child appeal we had earlier in the term.

Thank you to all who made the special end of term service run so smoothly.

Grateful thanks to The Reverend Richard Partridge, Assistant Curate, Organist Chris Dowie, Priory staff and all staff who have sung, directed and accompanied.
