December 16, 2015

The final day in Berlin…

Our final day in Berlin was equally as busy; with trips to the Reichstag (again), a visit to the Französischer Dom, shopping and browsing through the Gendarmenmarkt and then flying back to Gatwick.

The trip led us back to the Reichstag – such an impressive building and place of historical significance.

Photo opportunities a plenty on this trip!

Französischer Dom

The Französischer Dom, French Catherdral, which its domed top more famous in British architecture than the local Germanic structures. This imposing building is located in the heart of Berlin, between the Brandenburg Gate and Alexander Platz.

Gendarmenmarkt

To complete this whirlwind tour of the German capital the last stop over was the Gendarmenmarkt. Here the market mixed in with more traditional displays – below is a nativity scene – reminding us of the real meaning of Christmas.

The tour was a great success; many places visited, presents bought, good food consumed. The holiday spirit was felt by all – but some student only wanted to imagine warmer climates…!

Home safely just after 10pm on Tuesday to Gatwick, then the trip back to Ballard. Thanks goes to Mrs P and Mr M who led the group. Happy Christmas one and all,or should that be… Fröhliche Weihnachten.
