Artistic Impression #2 – Tuesday 26th January 2016 – Ballard School

This is our second dedicated blog for our Art Department -this week Year 4, 6 and 9 allow us in to see their creations from plastic for an upcoming arts festival, nature in contrasting and complementary colours to Year 9s artistic study work as part of their portfolio work. Enjoy!

Lower Prep

The year 4’s have been helping Mrs Oakshatt , on behalf of  the Lymington Arts Festival (July 9th-11th), to help her make these beautiful plastic flowers that will be planted in the Oakhaven hospice garden this Easter.

Upper Prep

Y6 Bees, Birds and Butterflies

Year 6 have been looking at contrasting and complementary colours and a variety of different techniques including sponging and stenciling for their brightly coloured backgrounds and then choose a colour scheme for their bee, bird or butterfly.

Senior

Year 9 Art

The photos below show our Year 9’s hard at work on their sketchbooks.

In these photos our pupils have been looking at animals and the artist Lynnette Shelley. Lynnette Shelley is an award-winning Pennsylvania artist specializing in contemporary mixed media animal paintings (attrib.)

Year 9 have also been learning to use acrylic paints on an artist study of Marcia Baldwin. On her website Marcia describes herself and her style.

 “I am a full time artist living in Louisiana. I work mainly in oils and love to create new and expressive compositions exploring all of God’s creations that we have been blessed with. (attrib.)”
