Sports’ Report #8 – Tuesday 9th February 2016 – Ballard School

February 9, 2016

Cross country season in ‘its stride’

Our roving reporter, Mr Winch, writes about both Ballard School’s recent cross country meets. Success comes in many different ways and with ‘The Ballard Way’ this is seen here readily in its first principle – ‘Develop a growth mindset’.

The Year 5-8 cross country runners participated in Ballard’s second outing of the season. There were several debutants who impressed on the eve of the ISA London West regionals (two days time).
This quick turn around means there may be some tired legs but for most, this race was a longer distance that that in Sherfield on Loddon.
Ballard did not take any major honours but Ballard did themselves proud and were a pleasure to be with for viewing parents and myself.

Cross country continues

Ballard travelled to Sherfield School for the annual regional qualifier in cross-country. Ballard aimed to send some runners through to the Nationals at Princethorpe College in Rugby on 27th February as well as allowing some up and coming hopefuls to gain some valuable experience at a big event.

We had two automatic qualifiers through to the National stages and two who may have a chance, depending on other club events happening on the same day. Many congratulations to all who took part.

There were some other tremendous performances with all Ballard pupils finishing in the top half of the races.

The support given by the Ballard team when following their teammates was second to none. It was noted by our fantastic parents and staff that were present, that the Ballard runners created such a phenomenal team atmosphere. Staff and parents too were amazing with their encouragement. This was epitomised by the reaction in the final stages of our 2nd place finish in the final race. The whole team were screaming, jumping and cheering her round the whole course!

This truly is the BALLARD WAY!

Volleyball is one of the sports we are seeing more pupils learn and be apart of. New Forest Volleyball use our sports’ facilities for their practices and matches.

Thanks to one  of our parents for this tweet and action shot of two of our Ballard cross country competitors at a competition last weekend.

We are hosting two ISA sports tournaments this month and in this tweet, the ISA Sport team have just made the draw for the pools.
