Ballard School Pre-Prep Adventures

People who help us

This week we have had another visitor in Pre-Prep. Firefighter Chriss Rashleigh came in and told us all about his job.

Did you know that ‘on call’ firefighters have to reach the station in four minutes from when they have been paged? We have tried to get changed in four minutes for playtime and could not do it easily! Only one in ten call outs actually involve fires.

One of our pupils was lucky enough to try on the firefighters’ uniform. The boots were so heavy he couldn’t even walk!

Chriss was ‘so impressed with the children’s behaviour, how well they listened and the questions that they asked’ that he has invited Reception to Yr 2 to visit Redbridge Fire Station to see the fire engines and ‘squirt’ some water when the weather is warmer. We are all looking forward to that visit.

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! (Happy St David’s Day)

We have also celebrated St David’s Day and have made daffodils, eaten Welsh cakes, looked at the Welsh flag flying from the school flag pole and KG2 even made leek and potato soup!
