Sports’ Report #11 -Tuesday 15th March 2016 – Ballard School

U9 Football

A summary of the recent U9 football tour event held at Ballard

Ballard welcomed Claires Court  from Maidenhead on their annual under 9 football tour. Ballard and Claires Court are both very active members on the ISA London West sports circuit and have struck up a strong link.

The atmosphere was amazing and all the boys warmed up together in three mixed groups. The football was played at a frenetic pace with the B team playing before the A team. The A team supported and coached the Bs who put in a Stirling performance against a skilled CC outfit.

The A team worked equally hard against some phenomenally gift CC players. The team passed well in phases and halted chances with wonderful blocks.

Afterward the string captains and were awarded a lovely plaque and Ballard offered the legendary Ballard Bear!

…Nine Ballard bears…

Thanks to Claires Court for a magnificent occasion.

Skiing update

2016.3.6 TS skiing

Here is an extract from an email sent into the school from one of our skiing families – compeiting in the Interschools Challenge

Natasha Stocker competed in the Interschools Challenge Monday and Tuesday of this week, representing Ballard again (email from 9th March 2016). As I mentioned to you yesterday, having skied a good first run on Monday, (races are made up of a combined time of two runs), she crashed on her second run of Giant Slalom so unfortunately was DSQ’d. Yesterday in slalom, she came 6th in the U16 girls.

There were approximately 500 racers competing across the races.

Tomorrow and Friday, she is competing in the Aiglon Cup, in Villars, Switzerland. Then she has a few training weeks, before the British Champs at the end of the month!

Community Sport

2016.3.9 BBall community

Some of our Community Basketball group who play at Ballard School

Ballard School is proud to host a variety of community sporting opportunities throughout the week. Community basketball has been going from strength to strength. They meet every Tuesday night 5.00pm-6.00pm.

Ballard School parents’ hockey went to Dean Close School in Cheltenham for their annual game. This will be featured in our Headmaster’s Blog this week – do look out for more information (and insight!) in this week’s edition.
