Artistic Impression #9

Ballard School’s #Artblog ‘Artistic Impression’ returns for the Summer term 2016. This term sees GCSEs dominate for our Year 11s – and below are some of the pieces they have been working on. We also feature a roundup of what is to come this term for Art. We have workshops for many of the years and we hope to feature the work produced as well as the processes involved in their creation.

Lower Prep (Years 3-5)

Art trips and workshops

Year 3 head to Southampton Art Gallery later on in May. Our Year 4s will be working on a mural for our dining rooms – this time all day on 22nd June. This will involve working with the artist is small groups throughout the day. Following the success of the mural created last term by our Year 7s.(see Artistic Impression #5)

Year 5 have an all day art and history trip planned to the Russell Cotes Museum later in June.

Upper Prep (Years 6-8)

This Monday coming our Year 8s will be working with an artist on a mural for the Sports Hall so perhaps next week’s blog for Sports’ Report will join forces with Artistic Impression! This will be followed by an all day workshop for our Year 6 group on Thursday. Watch this space!

Year 8 have also been getting creative some some Dean Russo style paintings. They have taken on the theme of animals and this collage captured the essence of the end products.

Dean Russo inspired paintings from our Year 8s – Summer Term 2016

Dean Russo was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he currently works and resides.

He has studied graphic design and fine arts at Pratt Institute and The School of Visual Arts in NYC.

Being an avid animal lover Dean started his career creating soulful animal portraits in his signature style that has evolved over a period of 10 years andas a professional musician Dean has been inspired to paint portraits of influential music icons.

Senior (Years 9-11)

Our GCSE students are well on their way with artwork and below we have a snippet of their work and preparations.
