Ballard School Sports’ Report

We start our Sports’ Report with a recent report written for one of the Athletics Meets we attended. We also have ‘tweets of the week’ and some of our pupils met the Mayor!

Ballard Shine at sunny Clayesmore

A full Ballard squad traveled to Clayesmore School for their Athletics Meet on Wednesday 4th May. The sun shone as did the Ballard pupils with some magnificent individual and team performances.

Ballard pupils had podium places and wins in a broad range of the track and field events on offer. Notable examples were seen  in 100m, 200m, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, Shot put, 800m and the 4x100m relay.

The results were not the only outstanding element of the afternoon. The pupils were immaculately behaved, very organised about getting to their events and tried their very hardest even when the competition was exceedingly tough.

The most endearing aspects however was the way all our squad supported each other when they were not doing their events. Our squad cheered on pupils from their own age group and those in different ones.

The final and most pleasing point was the way the Year 8s led the younger pupils to their events and stayed with them. This was unprompted.

Our pupils have a natural tendency to support and help others. This is bring demonstrated more and more across the school and it was highly evident at the Clayesmore Athletics Meet.

Mr Freeman, Mrs Jenkins and Mr Winch were so proud of the effort, performances and citizenship.

ABP Southampton Schools Challenge and Fun Run

Ballard School Mayor Southampton Schools Challenge

Ballard School posed with the mayor of Southampton as they prepared for the ABP Southampton Schools Challenge and Fun Run. Our intrepid roving reporter (aka Mr Winch!) sent us back this:

The Schools Challenge was a fast and furious affair and the Ballard pupils all finished high up the pecking order. The official results will be released soon. (Do see their website for more details)

In the Fun Run, the pace and intensity was far different. Entrants could be from 2 years old to 102.

Every child and adult seem to lap up the terrific atmosphere and the support from spectators and competitors was magnificent.

Well done to all that took part.

Team building at Ballard

Our House Assembly schedule took a turn outside recently – great to use the good weather for all reasons for our varied curriculum. One of our houses took to the Astro for their Assembly on ‘team building’.

We have had some beautiful summer like weather in New Milton recently and this photo doesn’t really do it justice! Well done to our U15s who played Winchester College recently at home.
