Ballard School Year 3 Southampton Art Gallery

Year 3

Our Year 3 trip to Southampton Art Gallery was covered in our last Artistic Impression blog. What we didn’t get an opportunity to feature was some of their work, produced after their trip around the gallery. Here is have a selection of their ‘under the sea’ work.

Year 5

All academic year our Year 5s have been studying ‘Kings and Queens’ as their art topic. This is also part of the cross-curricular work which Ballard focuses on, especially in our Lower Prep (Years 3-5).  In our Artistic Impression blog #3 we showcased some of the clay model Kings and Queens which they had created. This term it is the turn of painting. Here are some of our Year 5s in action.

Year 6

Ballard School’s Year 6s had an art workshop, all based around the Russian artist Kandinsky.

In the morning our budding artists learnt about Kandinsky and his life, how to read and understand Kandinsky’s visual language.

They also learnt how to draw symbolism like Kandinsky that leads towards abstraction.

(Ed: Ballard Sport will be pleased to see their water bottles put to good use!)

In the afternoon they took their designs that they did  in the morning and created a colourful painting full of symbolism and emotional meanings. Here we have some of these below!

Year 9

Our Year 9s are working on their projects this term. We have a few sneaky photos of them preparing their canvasses…
