#BallardNormandie – Year 6 Trip – Tuesday 28th June 2016

June 28, 2016

 Day 2

Day two and our visit continues, this time to Mont St Michel. This is an island commune in Normandy. This small island has been fortifies since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The island is 600m from land and it is only accessible at low tide – as our photos attest! (attrib).

Bay of Mont St Michel

At Mont St Michel our Year 6 group crossed the ‘Baie du Mont St Michel’ – beware of quicksand! Our guide tried out the quicksand to show us; our group stood away at a very safe distance!

There were a few muddy pairs of feet after they explored the area!

For a short video from the crossing – do see our Facebook page

After all that effort – some refreshment in the shape of an ice-cream!

Après l’effort, le réconfort! Une glace s’il vous plaît!

Visit to a goats cheese farm

The visit to the goat’s cheese farm allowed the year 6s to learn a lot about goats. They had an opportunity to learn about keeping goats and meet some of the goats at the farm. They even had a chance to ‘try their hands’ at milking!
