Ballard School Summer Camps 2016

Summer’s here to stay at Ballard School

A stunning start to our Ballard Summer Camps programme, all happening in our 32 acre grounds in New Milton, Hampshire.

From Day one…

Day one sees the start of an incredible array of options for children in from those in reception to Year 11.

You can grab a sense of the variety by what’s on offer today –

It’s all in the dough – pizza making was the first activity of the day for our chefs #BallardCamps

It’s SOOOOO good!

We asked some of our Cooking course chefs what they thought of this morning’s Sushi making and pizza creating –

It’s soooooo good!

Sushi had some mixed reactions but one sushi maker was quite candid – see our picture above!

Lunchtime and as it is such a beautiful sunny day those staying for their lunch are out on the front lawn eating their packed lunch.

And while the camps go on…

It might be the first day of our Ballard Summer Camps but for many of our staff, this is another working day.

Ballard in Bloom…

This summer we are finishing off our Music Building with a lick of paint, after it had its new windows in earlier in the year. We are always working on our 32 acre grounds and today is the turn of another boarder to be prepared for some planting. This will be in keeping with the new planting around the Performing Arts Centre  and back of the main school building.

Here’s a tweet (@BallardSchool) from April this year:

 And so to this afternoon…

We are holding our first football course of the five weeks today ( more on Tuesday 19th July, Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd July – see here for more details ). With such beautiful weather the boys are out on one of our playing fields and started off with drills, including passing and dribbling.

Ballard School Dance Camps 2016

Warming up at our Dance Summer Blaze

After the warm-ups our dance group had a chance to practice their stage ‘sliding’ and also pose in their favoured position from this afternoon’s session. Some chose from the theme ‘pirates’ (looking strong and scary was a must!)

Cooking – Part 2

Our chefs finished off their day of cooking with their apple tart tatins. Before the making came the planning and all the thoughts into decoration and layering as well.

Following on from the success of the launch last year, the programme has doubled in size and includes some great new courses.  The programme features camps in four main areas – sport, arts, crafts and skills.  Alongside existing favourites such as bushcraft, cycling, ball sports, music and drama, 2016 sees new courses available in computing, junk modelling, craft workshops for jewellery, lego mindstorms, scientific modelling and much more.

Another innovation for this year are courses for younger children which include junior bushcraft (Years 1-5), fun sports, gym minis (both Years R-4) and dance (courses from Year 1).  All courses start at 9.00am and finish at 5.00pm with some courses running for half days, others for full days or multiple days. Morning sessions finish at 12.30pm and afternoon sessions commence at 1.30pm.

All the courses are run and administered by the school and will operate in the secure 32 acre grounds at Ballard in New Milton, Hampshire using school facilities.  Children will be fully supervised at all times by qualified staff who are subject to enhanced disclosure procedures. The programme starts on Monday 18th July and continues for five weeks until Friday 19th August.

Full details of the courses including charges, terms and conditions and how to book can be found on the dedicated camps website (
