Ballard School Art Year7 Year8

Upper Prep Art

We delve into the world of Upper Prep (Years 6-8) Art this week, with a look at our Year 8 observational drawing class. We also continue to follow the ‘flow’ of our fishy Mackerel inspired art from Year 7.

Year 8

Year 8 are just starting a musical themed observation drawing project.

One recent lesson was spent lightly drawing out a chosen section of the still life to fill an A2 piece of paper.

Our Fish topic continues – see our first blog  for more pictures and information

Using their original drawings of the mackerel, the pupils used this as a template, placing it underneath the open laminating pouch. Using a variety of different types of collage and textile material pupils were encouraged to experiment with the material available and have fun!

Mackerel Fish Collages – using an electric sewing machine and laminating pouches

When they were happy with the combinations, the pouches were closed and put through the heavy duty laminator.

To finish off pupils were given one to one tuition on how to use an electric sewing machine, to outline their mackerel and add any embellishments they might like to add.
