French Exchange 2018 – Day Two

June 27, 2018

Trémosports Day!

This truly has to be seen and experienced to be believed… Each form group chooses a “theme” well in advance, and they really go to town preparing for the day. Our pupils are always made to feel really included, and so this year we had doctors, nurses and patients (see above!), cheerleaders, rednecks and members of “Anonymous” complete with Guy Fawkes masks…

The classes compete against the others in their own year and, by a clever system of handicaps, against all the other years too. There are 7 disciplines: football, basketball, cross-country relay, doubles badminton, vortex throw & catch, climbing (on the school’s amazing wall) and, for the first time this year, pétanque. The forms choose who will represent them in each event, and make sure that people get a chance to compete in whatever they feel happiest doing.

Meanwhile the ambiance is incredible, with form groups competing for the overall prize of best support and chanting!

It was pretty hot today, so thank goodness for copious shade and lots of water…

I was really proud of our Ballard cohort, who all took part in various disciplines – notably climbing and basketball. Here’s a selection of the many pictures I took!

In the end it was a class of 6ièmes (equivalent of our Y7s) who won overall, with the medical 4ièmesB (including Eddie, Benito and Joshua) winning their year group level.

The students then headed back home now for showers, supper and probably reasonably prompt bedtimes, as I suspect they’ll be pretty tired after such a long and full day!
