Tuesday- Bath- Roman Baths, Fashion Museum and Shakespeare’s Henry V

Wednesday- Bristol – workshop in the M Shed museum and SS Great Britain

A short update from Mr B:

Day 3 – SS Great Britain and M Shed

Bristol SS GB swabbing

Swabbing the deck on SS Great Britain!

We spent the day in Bristol with a visit to SS Great Britain. Here we took a 60 day voyage to Australia and then got inside the head of I K Brunel.

Bristol Slavery

Learning about slavery and some of the punishment implements used

In the afternoon we visited M Shed museum to find out about the slave trade and its impact on Bristol.

Day 4 – Cheddar Gorge and caves

Cheddar up Jacobs Ladder LR

Conquering Jacob’s Ladder at Cheddar Gorge

A day of overcoming fears and an exhibition of what can be achieved with support and encouragement from one another.

Cheddar climbing 2 LR

Climbing and belaying in Cheddar Gorge

Crawling through damp fissures in limestone or climbing sheer tock presented challenges to all.

In the evening we put on a Variety Show which was enjoyed by all.

Day 5 – Mill on the Brue activity centre

MotB challenge group

A group challenge at Mill on the Brue

Another baking day but we enjoyed a number of personal and team challenges, including a giant zip wire!

 MotB Water Slide 2 LR

Loving the water slide! Perfect weather for it

One of the favourite activities, however, was the massive water  slide – so refreshing!

We arrived back at school spot on the designated time of 6pm – exhausted and looking forward to seeing family and our own beds!

Over the week there were some amazing individual achievements and staff were particularly impressed on how well organised the pupils were arriving for rendezvous with correct gear and also for keeping their rooms tidy.

Staff thanks

Enormous thanks to all the staff, coping with the heat and keeping everyone hydrated. Special thanks to Mrs B for agreeing to drive the fourth bus as well as having to look after the myriad of health needs during the week.
